Players Code of Conduct

Players Code of Conduct

Lakota FC's primary purpose is to foster good sportsmanship among its members and players, enhancing their physical and social well-being. Players attending any Lakota FC practice, game, or event are expected to abide by the following principles:

  • Participation and Fun: Remember that the game is for youth to have fun.
  • Knowledge and Adherence: Learn the rules of the game and the league's policies and adhere to them at all times.
  • Sportsmanship and Respect: Be a positive role model by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game, practice, or other sporting event.
  • Avoid Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Do not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct such as booing, taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane language or gestures.
  • Health and Well-being: Avoid any behaviors that could endanger the health and well-being of athletes.
  • Conflict Resolution: Play by the rules and resolve conflicts without hostility or violence.
  • Respect for All: Treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.
  • Focus on Development: Recognize that doing one's best and overall development is more important than winning.
  • Effort and Encouragement: Encourage effort and refrain from critiquing performance during the game.
  • Positive Support: Never ridicule or yell at other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.
  • Skill Development: Support the club’s philosophy of skill development and recognize that individual games or weekend results do not negate overall growth.
  • Respect for Officials: Respect the officials and their authority during games and refrain from questioning, discussing, or confronting coaches at the game field. Arrange to speak with coaches at an agreed-upon time and place.
  • Healthy Environment: Demand a sports environment free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and refrain from their use at all sports events.
  • Appropriate Coaching: Refrain from coaching during games and practices unless you are one of the official team coaches.

Reported violations of the Code of Conduct will be investigated and may involve appropriate actions at the discretion of the Lakota FC Board. For more information, please see your Director of Coaching or a member of the Board of Directors.
